Flygare, Porreca lead Boulder to two wins in CBL state tourney Camera Staff Report
LAFAYETTE Dan Flygare pitched 10 innings to get the win in Boulder's first game of the CBL I-Colorado state baseball tournament Wednesday.
Flygare struck out eight and drove in the winning run in the top of the 10th.
In the second game, Boulder advanced to the single-elimination round of the tournament, thanks in part to the pitching of Neil McElroy and hitting of Anthony Porreca. McElroy did not walk a batter in four innings, striking out nine. Porreca went 4-for-4 with a triple and two-run homer.
Boulder plays Pomona today at 1 p.m. at Monarch.

LONGMONT Longmont pounded out seven doubles in defeating Dakota Ridge 11-1 in the first game of the CBL I-Connie Mack State Tournament. Pitcher David Pauley threw a three-hitter, as well.
In the second game of the day, Longmont came back from a 6-4 deficit in the third to defeat Arvada 13-7. Longmont featured more power in this game with three home runs.
Longmont returns to action at 11 a.m. today. A win would advance Longmont to the semifinals today.

LAFAYETTE Monarch pounded out 26 runs in two games to go undefeated in the first round of the CBL II state tournament. Danny Kosel came up with the big hit, blasting a grand slam in the sixth inning against Gateway to put Monarch up for good. Kosel also got his sixth win of the year, going six innings.
Next up for Monarch is a matchup with county-rival Broomfield today at 10 a.m. at Pomona High School.
